What to Know About Yamunotri

Yamunotri is the first stop in the Char Dham Yatra, followed by Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. The journey to this sacred site is both spiritually enriching and physically challenging, as devotees traverse a steep 6 km trek from Janki Chatti to reach the revered Yamunotri Temple. The temple, dedicated to Goddess Yamuna, is a place of immense faith where pilgrims seek blessings for protection from untimely death. The pilgrimage season typically lasts from May to October, and during this time, the temple welcomes thousands of devotees.

Yamunotri Temple

The centerpiece of Yamunotri, this temple is dedicated to Goddess Yamuna, believed to be the daughter of Surya (the Sun God) and the sister of Yama (the God of Death). Kharsali

Hanuman Chatti

At the meeting point of Hanuman Ganga and Yamuna Rivers, Hanuman Chatti is a tranquil retreat for trekkers. Surrounded by dense forests, it serves as a starting point for treks to Dodi Tal and beyond.

Janki Chatti

The final motorable stop before Yamunotri, Janki Chatti is famous for natural hot springs and scenic Himalayan views. Pilgrims rest and rejuvenate here before beginning their 6 km trek to the sacred shrine.
